Innovative communication

The ability to use digital technology in new ways is one of Corduras strongest skills. We therefore place great emphasis on experimenting with new technologies that allow us to offer interactive communication solutions with new angles. On this page you can find information about some of the technologies that we predict will have exciting and future opportunities.

For projects dealing with innovative, interactive communication, Cordura is likely to be included in the sparring work on descriptions and funds  applications.
You are always welcome to contact us, if you would like to learn more about one or more technologies, or to present an idea that is about to sprout in your business.

Augmented Reality

In 'Augmented reality' the physical and virtual world fuses together through digital layers placed on top of reality. Only a few years ago it was still a dream, but with the explosive technological developments in smartphones and tablet PCs, today there are a number of options for achieving this.

Example 1: Layers of reality with GPS, compass and camera.
The combination of these three technologies make it possible to place the GPS points directly to images from cameras in smartphones. By seeing the world through the smartphone opens a myriad of communication options. It is, for an example, possible to show the locations of historically interesting points directly on top of reality, to play communication-oriented games where the possibility of finding digital hospitalized points in a specific area is exploited, and the users ability to leave input on specific locations.

Example 2: The combination of camera and new software for recognition of images or 3D models.
There is a lot going on concerning images recognition software, and it is now possible to work with the placement of digital layer on top of images seen through the camera on a smartphone. It may for example be the right technology to use in communication of works of art in a museum.

Microsoft Kinect

Microsoft Kinect was released for the Xbox game console in November 2010, and announced a paradigm shift in gaming. Like when Nintendo released their Wii console, which also set new standards for interaction with computers. In fact many doubted as the presentation video was released in 2009, which showed gamers without controllers, but by using the body you could play both combat and racing games.

In short, the technology behind Kinet is standardization of certain tracking technologies, which until now has not been available to the general public. In early 2011, much of the technology opened to developers, and Cordura has of course also added the playful gadget repertoire of technologies.

The possibilities with Kinect are many; Its primary function is to track body movements and transfer them to a 3D model that you see in Xbox games. It can also be used for real-time Keying (also known as blue/green screen) of people in front of the camera, just without the use of a blue/green screen and subsequent editing.

Mobile platformes

The mobile platform is ideal for digital communication with the combination of touch screen, camera, GPS, QR codes and internet. At the same time the multi-functional smart phones become an integral part of everyday life, and 2011 is predicted to be the year when tablet PCs make headway.

The new electronic tools has been the link between users' online behavior and their on-site experiences. QR codes are a good example of a technology that binds the two worlds close together.

Cordura has several years of experience with QR codes which are scanned by users' smartphones. The codes can be informative to display text, images and video on the user's location, but they can also be used for more advanced applications such as mobile guides and mobile payments.

Cordura has particular developed a payment system with QR codes to the Copenhagen venue VEGA. Here the visitors can enter their credit card information on the phone, and then make purchases using the phone. The goal of the solution is, for an example, to avoid long queues and credit card payments. After making the purchase over the phone the guest can easily and quickly pick up the goods with a unique QR code.

In short, the possibilities of the mobile platforms are many. You are welcome to contact us us and hear what we have to offer and add to your project.
